Oak Library
No. 014 — Built-Ins
A floor-to-ceiling library, built around a collection rather than the other way around.
The brief was simple: somewhere for everything, and room to keep collecting.
Our clients had spent a decade gathering ceramics, books, and small objects from their travels, with nowhere proper to put them. We designed a single run of cabinetry that wraps the dining room corner — open shelving above, closed storage below, sized shelf by shelf around the pieces they already owned.
The case is solid white oak with a hand-rubbed milk paint in a custom blue-green, mixed to sit quietly against the room's existing trim. The dining table that anchors the room is the same oak, left natural, so the two pieces read as a pair without matching exactly.
“They asked what we wanted, then built furniture around our actual life instead of a showroom idea of it.” — Client, Boulder
