Entry Piece
No. 03 — Entryway
The first five seconds of coming home — a place to land coats, keys, and a little greenery.
A narrow hallway, asked to do a lot of work.
This entry was barely two feet deep — no room for a console, but every reason to need one. We built a single floating walnut shelf with an integrated peg rail above it, scaled to hold what actually happens at a front door: bags down, coat up, keys somewhere in between.
The shelf is solid walnut with a live, gently waned edge on one side, fixed with a concealed steel cleat so it appears to float clear of the wall.
“It's the first thing I see walking in, and somehow it makes the whole house feel more finished.” — Client, Colorado Springs
